Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, has said that the 2023 population and housing census earlier scheduled for March 29 has been postponed to May 2023.
VerseNews Nigeria reports that Mohammed said this after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, March 15.
According to Mohammad, the decision to postpone the national census was necessary because of the governorship election and states of house of assembly election on Saturday March 18.

He also said a sum of 2.8 billion naira was approved for acquisition of software for the National Population Census.
At the end of the meeting, FEC also approve the Nigeria Agenda 2050. An agenda to increase real GDP growth by seven per cent, create 165 million naira jobs and reduce the number of Nigerians living in poverty to 2.1 million.
