  • The Federal Government has addressed Falz’s viral query on why kidnappers walked free after 38 abducted Kwara worshippers were rescued.

The Federal Government has reacted to comments by Nigerian rapper, Folarin “Falz” Falana, who questioned why no suspects were arrested following the release of 38 abducted worshippers from a church in Kwara State.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Sunday, November 23, 2025, announced that all 38 victims of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Isegun, Eruku, had regained freedom. The victims were abducted on November 18 when armed bandits invaded the church during a thanksgiving service held for members previously rescued from an earlier kidnapping incident.

The attackers reportedly demanded ₦100 million per victim, totaling ₦3.8 billion, a development that sparked widespread outrage across the country.

Confirming their release, President Tinubu said he had cancelled his trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally coordinate rescue operations.

“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued,” the President stated.

However, Falz — in a post that gathered over 600,000 impressions on X (formerly Twitter) — challenged the government’s announcement, insisting Nigerians deserved to know what happened to the kidnappers.

“THIS DOES NOT CUT IT. Where are the abductors? Were they killed? How many arrests were made?” he asked.

In response, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, explained that no arrests were made because the bandits “came out voluntarily for a peace talk.”

“We didn’t arrest the bandits because they came out voluntarily for the peace talk,” the IGP said.

Meanwhile, actress Bukola Arugba, an indigene of Eruku, expressed gratitude upon learning that all abducted worshippers had been released alive, sharing an emotional reaction on social media.
