Funke Akindele’s “A Tribe Called Judah” sets history as the highest grossing Nollywood film of 2023, earning 400M naira at the box office in 12 days.

VerseNews reports that the announcement, heralding the movie’s phenomenal success, was made by Film One Entertainment, the official distributor, via their Instagram platform.

This remarkable achievement positions the film alongside cinematic gems like “The Wedding Party” and “Omo Ghetto: The Saga,” with Akindele’s directorial prowess showcased in the action-packed “Battle on Buka Street.”

The narrative unfolds as a compelling tale of a single mother, Jedidah Judah, portrayed by Akindele herself, and her sons, each fathered by different men.

Jide Kene Achufusi, Timini Egbuson, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, and Olumide Oworu bring to life the brothers Emeka, Pere, Adamu, Shina, and Ejiro Judah, respectively. United by familial bonds, the siblings embark on a daring heist to rescue their mother from adversity.
