The All Progressive Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has welcomed the decision of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi to challenge the outcome of the presidential election in court.

This Online Newspaper reported that Obi in a press conference address to Nigerians said the presidential election is a clear violation of the electoral rules and guidelines as we were promised adding that the election did not meet the minimum standard expected of a free, transparent, credible fair election.

He argued the his party won the presidential election and will take every legal and peaceful process to reclaim the victory.

Reacting to his claim, APC campaign council through its Director, Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga in a statement issued on Thursday May 2 said Obi’s decision to seek redress in court is welcomed if he is convinced of the evidence of electoral frauds he will present before the tribunal as alleged.

The statement partly read: “We watched with dismay today’s press conference addressed by the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi where he made very weird and wild claims about the outcome of the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections, an election in which he emerged a second runner up, according to the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“We welcome the decision of Mr Obi to seek redress in court as an aggrieved party if he is convinced of the evidence of electoral frauds he will present before the tribunal as alleged.

“Going to court is part of the electoral process and it is the most decent, statesmanlike and civilised course of action to take. We salute the decision. It is surely better than calling supporters to the streets and instigating social unrest”.
