Anambra businessman Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as “Fish Magnet” and son of APGA State Women Leader, was abducted from his home, shot, and killed in a targeted attack, sparking outrage and grief across Nigeria.
The Anambra State Police Command has disclosed the chilling circumstances surrounding the death of Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as “Fish Magnet”, the Managing Director of Fish Magnet Outlet and the only son of APGA State Women Leader, Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the command said Onyekere was killed on July 27 in the Okpuno area of Awka, the state capital.

According to the police, the young businessman was ambushed at his residence in Ezinifite village, “shot in the leg” and forcibly taken away by the assailants.
Describing the murder as a “targeted attack”, the police revealed that “his navy blue Toyota Corolla was recovered by a joint team of police officers and Anambra Vigilante Operatives along the Ukwulu/Igbariam road, suggesting a planned getaway route.”
Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu condemned the killing, calling it a “cowardly act”, and directed tactical and intelligence units to track down the perpetrators.
“We owe it to the victim’s family, to the people of Anambra, and to his memory to ensure that those responsible face the full weight of the law,” Orutugu stated.
The murder of Fish Magnet has sparked widespread grief online, as many Nigerians mourn the hard-working entrepreneur.

Business influencer Chioma Ifeanyi-Eze wrote, “Only yesterday, I was trying to buy fish of 98k from this Igbo boy that I love so much called Fish Magnet. I didn’t know he had been killed… I am deeply saddened by this news. See how VDM is crying for him. I am in deep pain.”
