Speaking in an interview with The Breakfast Club released on Tuesday, the award-winning Nigerian singer described the leak as one of the most painful moments of her life, admitting, “I was hurt… I was a victim.”
Tiwa explained that at the time, her boyfriend claimed the tape was shared by accident, saying he pressed send while trying to save it. But she later discovered it was actually linked to a bet.
“He said he was trying to save it, and then he pressed send by accident… I later on found out that it was a bet with his friends,” she stated.

The singer also addressed widespread speculations that the scandal was a publicity stunt. “They thought I did it for PR… but if I wanted to do that, I would have had better lighting,” she added.
Tiwa further disclosed that she has been celibate for the past three years, reflecting on how the incident shaped her personal journey.
