The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied appointing Femi Odubiyi, a former Commission in Lagos as its head of Information Technology Centre (ICT).
VerseNews Nigeria reports that the Commission made this known on Tuesday March 14 in a statement signed by it National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee Barrister Festus Okoye.
Okoye allege that the rumors of making such appointment has been circulating online through a Lagos politician, Chief Olabode George.
He debunked the report adding that the name Femi Odubiyi does not exist in any of its branch nationwide.
He however urged the general public to disregard such report while cautioning its promoter.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a widely published report attributed to a well-known Lagos politician, Chief Olabode George, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appointed one Femi Odubiyi, a former Commissioner in Lagos State and an associate of a prominent politician, as its Head of ICT.”
“To set the record straight, the name “Femi Odubiyi” does not even exist within our ICT Department at the INEC headquarters in Abuja or any state office of the Commission”
“Our ICT staff are career officers of the Commission. None has held political appointment in any Statae of the Federation.”
“The public is urged to disregard the story. Its promoter should been circumspect so as to be seen as a purveyor or fake news”
