Nigeria and Israel have agreed to boost cooperation in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and security training to combat bandits, Boko Haram, and ISWAP terrorists.

Nigeria and Israel have agreed to boost cooperation in counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and security training to combat bandits, Boko Haram, and ISWAP terrorists.
Nigeria and Israel have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen collaboration in critical areas such as counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, information sharing, security financing, and advanced training.
This was contained in a joint communiqué signed by Nigeria’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and her Israeli counterpart, Sharren Haskel-Harpaz, following a high-level political meeting on Monday.

The communiqué described the talks as a reflection of the enduring and strategic partnership between both nations, with discussions covering global security, counter-terrorism, and broader bilateral political and economic cooperation.
Both ministers welcomed the exchange of ideas and initiatives during the dialogue and stressed that insecurity and terrorism remain global threats requiring unified international action.
They highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation in intelligence sharing, especially on terror financing, and the provision of specialised security training.

The meeting also explored wider opportunities for collaboration in technology and innovation for border management, capacity building, cultural exchange, tourism, agriculture, and consular and immigration services.
To sustain momentum, both countries agreed to promote exchange programmes, study tours, and the creation of a stronger bilateral framework to ensure continuous dialogue and cooperation in the years ahead.
