Iwobi Breaks Premier League Record, Becomes Nigeria’s Most-Capped Player in EPL History

Fulham star Alex Iwobi has set a new record in the English Premier League (EPL) following the Cottagers’ 1–0 defeat to Arsenal.

Despite the loss, the Nigerian international achieved a historic personal milestone that cements his legacy among football’s elite.

Iwobi, who began his career at Arsenal’s Hale End Academy, started the match and put in another composed performance, even though his side failed to find the net. Arsenal claimed victory through a well-executed set piece, maintaining their position at the top of the league table.

According to the Premier League’s official statistics, Iwobi has now made 299 EPL appearances, surpassing Shola Ameobi’s long-standing record of 298 appearances — a record that had stood for years among Nigerian players in England.
