JAMB has released an additional 531 withheld UTME results. The withheld was due to exam infractions, bringing the total released to 1,842,897.
The board debunked false claims about an unregistered candidate receiving scores and warned against misinformation aimed at tarnishing its integrity.
To enhance security, JAMB plans to add features to the result checking process, cautioning candidates to keep their details secure and only use the official SMS method for results verification.
The Joint and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of an additional 531 results from the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
VerseNews reports that these results were part of the 64,000 that had been previously withheld due to suspicions of exam infractions, bringing the total number of released results to 1,842,897.
The board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, confirmed this development in a recent statement.
This Online News Platform gathered that JAMB is also evaluating cases involving unverified candidates and plans to make a decision soon. The board has refuted false claims circulating about an unidentified candidate allegedly receiving scores without participating in the UTME.
Describing these claims as malicious attempts to tarnish its reputation, JAMB has emphasized the integrity and security of its examination process, which does not randomly allocate scores to candidates.
The board discovered that some detractors manipulated genuine results, altering details to create misleading impressions. In response, JAMB urged candidates and the public to dismiss such deceptive publications and advised maintaining confidentiality of personal exam details to prevent misuse.
To further secure the results verification process, JAMB plans to introduce additional features like including the registration number in future checks. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized editing of result details.
The official method to check UTME results remains sending ‘UTMERESULT’ to 55019 or 66019, with results currently not available on the board’s website.
Candidates associating with deceptive activities risk being treated as collaborators in such schemes.
