Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has assumed his duties at the CBN in an acting capacity.
VerseNews reports that his assumption of duty comes after the formal resignation of Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the CBN governor.
The deputy governors-designate of the CBN have also taken up their roles in acting capacities following the formal resignations of Mr. Folashodun Shonubi, Mrs. Aishah Ahmad, Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu, and Dr. Kingsley Obiora as deputy governors of the CBN.
Dr. Cardoso and his colleagues took their oaths of office at a ceremony held at the CBN’s head office in Abuja on September 22, 2023, and have started administering monetary and financial sector policies for the federal government.
