The freedom of the Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO) working for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been freed after he was abducted the prior day of the governorship election.
VerseNews earlier reported that gunmen abducted the SPO on Friday, while he was travelling to the Registration Area Centre – 06 (Ossioma) in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The electoral body made an announcement a few hours after the official had been dragged away by his kidnappers while waiting to board a vessel at the Amassoma Jetty – confirming his release.
Mr Wilfred Ifogah, Head of Voter Education and Publicity of the INEC branch in Yenagoa, issued a confirmation of his release to journalists in a statement.
Fogah expressed his gratitude to those who expressed their concern and assisted in the liberation of the INEC representative, and reassured everyone that the officer is in good health.
