The Lagos Government has confirmed the collapse of a seven-storey building under construction in the Banana Island, Ikoyi area of Lagos State.
VerseNews Nigeria reports that the building located at First Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi, collapsed on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, around 3 pm.
The incident was confirmed by the State’s Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the ministry’s Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, only few persons sustained injuries and have been given proper medical treatment.
“Few who sustained injuries are being treated. There is no fatality. This unfortunate incident happened while casting was being done,” Sanusi said.
The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, visited the site ‘immediately’ to assess the situation and flag off an investigation.
“We ask members of the public to remain calm and expect further information from the ministry as we know more,” he said.
