She emphasizes privacy, respect, and resilience while refraining from responding to false allegations, urging understanding during this challenging time.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Mabel Makun, the wife of renowned Nigerian comedian AY, addressed the recent breakdown of her marriage.

Despite the difficulties, she conveyed her belief in a brighter future and expressed gratitude for the support she has received from loved ones. Mabel acknowledged the disappointment that her lifelong dreams of a successful marriage have taken a different turn but affirmed her determination to navigate this new chapter with resilience and grace.

Throughout her statement, Mabel emphasized the importance of maintaining respect and understanding, particularly for the sake of her children and the privacy of her family.

She revealed that while numerous falsehoods have circulated about her, she has chosen to refrain from responding, opting instead to focus on moving forward positively. Despite the unexpected end to her marriage, Mabel appealed for privacy and consideration as she and her ex-husband chart their separate paths.

She wrote, “Many lies have been peddled against me and attack orchestrated on the social media space but I will honour my kids with my silence and not address any of these lies.

“Although my dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction now, I’m committed to moving forward with grace and resilience.

“While it is unexpected for things to end this way, I quietly ask for guidance from my faith as I step into this new chapter of life.

“Also, as we navigate this new change, I ask for your help in creating an atmosphere of respect and understanding. This is a challenging period, and I ask for privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and I) find our own path forward. I wish him the very best in this journey as well.”

This public statement comes after AY confirmed the separation on April 7, expressing his decision to refrain from discussing personal family matters in the public sphere. AY and Mabel tied the knot in November 2008 and have two children together.
