The first winner of Miss Nigeria beauty pageant held in 1957, Chief Grace Atinuke Oyelude, has clocked 93.
VerseNews reports that this was disclosed in a post on Instagram by the Miss Nigeria Organization on Thursday, November 16.
Grace is a retired registered nurse, midwife, and hospital administrator who became the first Miss Nigeria. She represented the Northern region at the Miss Nigeria grand final after her brother submitted her photograph to pageant organizers Daily Times, (In the contest’s early years, Miss Nigeria was a photo competition).
Nigerians including celebrities have celebrated the ‘Ageless queen’ as they trooped to comment section.
The post reads, “We are immensely delighted to celebrate the evergreen beauty and brave leader, Chief Grace Atinuke Oyelude, on the occasion of her 93rd birthday. Her courage, resolve, and great strength of character are excellent qualities that have endeared her to us and many others.”
