N2.5b Fraud: EFCC Arraigns Impeached Ogun Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo

Former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, along with two other officers, Dayo Samuel and Adeyemo Adedeji, were arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abeokuta on Monday.

VerseNews reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought charges against them for alleged misappropriation of N2.5 billion in public funds during Oluomo’s tenure as Speaker in 2022.

Oluomo had recently faced impeachment by 18 out of 26 lawmakers over accusations of high-handedness, misconduct, arrogance, poor leadership, lack of focus, and transparency.

However, the court adjourned the case to 29 February and 1 March due to the absence of the EFCC’s counsel.
