The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert regarding the sale of falsified Chloroquine Phosphate tablets discovered in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.
VerseNews reports that upon conducting TLC screening on the tablets, it was revealed that the product contains no active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
Despite carrying a fake NAFDAC registration number (04-8769) and is not registered by NAFDAC.
The agency is taking swift action to detect and remove the product from circulation, directing state offices to conduct surveillance and recall batches.
NAFDAC emphasizes the importance of sourcing medicinal products from authorized and licensed suppliers and urges the public to discontinue the use or sale of the identified product.
Importers, distributors, retailers, and healthcare providers are advised to exercise caution and vigilance within the supply chain.
