The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi says leaders particularly people in public offices must visibly sacrifice for the people.

VerseNews Nigeria reports that Obi said this while reacting to the 124 convoy that followed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the airport to his private Lagos residence.

Addressing journalists on the trending motorcade video, the former Anambra Governor in a video posted on his verified Twitter page, stated that he hadn’t seen the video.

He argued that the current sitiuatio on the country demands that sacrifices must start from the leaders, to serve the poor masses and lead by example.

“I’ve been asked questions related to cutting down the cost of governance, and the complaints by Nigerians concerning a trending motorcade video. I wasn’t opportune to see the video, but I will repeat what I said,” Obi said.

He continued; “The present Nigeria require that all those who serve and lead must do so by example. Their behaviour and their public conduct must be in consonance with what the society requires today.”

“We cannot continue to preach for the people to sacrifice without sacrificing too. The sacrifices must now start from the leaders visibly, and measurably at all times because the people are suffering. We must now be at the forefront of addressing the suffering”.

This Online News Media gathered that Tinubu on Tuesday arrived Lagos for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha to a grand reception with over 120 vehicles.

Nigerians are still battling with the high fuel prices and the removal of fuel subsidy by the Tinubu’s administration.

A twitter user reacting to the video wrote, “Why does the president of the POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD need to ride in a 120 car convoy and same people removed subsidy asking the poor to make sacrifices.”
