The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has recently joined the United Nations Global Compact, marking a significant milestone.
VerseNews reports that the NNPCL’s decision to join the UN Global Compact makes it the first state-owned Oil Company in Africa to become part of the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative.
The signing of this commitment occurred during the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, coinciding with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s participation in the Global Africa Business Initiative.
Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd, signed the Letter of Commitment on behalf of NNPCL, signifying their participation in the UN Global Compact.
This move underscores NNPCL’s commitment to corporate sustainability and aligning with global initiatives for responsible business practices.
