- Nigerian singer and actor Banky W has stirred nationwide conversation after encouraging African men to freely say “I love you” to one another.
Popular Nigerian singer and filmmaker Banky W has triggered widespread reactions online after a new video of him addressing African masculinity surfaced on social media.
In the viral clip from the audio-visual podcast #MentalityWithEbuka, the singer urges African men to normalize using the word “Love” when referring to one another. According to him, while women freely express affection among themselves, men often avoid using the word—even though they genuinely care for one another.
Banky W explained that many men feel uncomfortable expressing emotional vulnerability due to long-standing cultural stereotypes. He stressed that saying “I love you” does not diminish a man’s masculinity in any way.
