President Bola Tinubu on Friday September 15 approved the appointment of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

VerseNews reported that Dr. Cardoso’s appointment is for a term of five (5) years initially, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

This appointment aligns with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which grants the President the authority to appoint the CBN Governor and four Deputy Governors, subject to Senate confirmation.
