Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has urged the citizens to intensify their prayers to seek God’s intervention in the security crisis facing the country.
The former lawmaker said this on her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday while reacting to the rescue of five sisters of the Al-Kadriyar family who were kidnapped in the Bwari area of Abuja.
The first lady described prayers as the solution to the incessant kidnappings carried out by terrorists, bandits and other criminals across the country.
According to the first lady, prayers should be considered as the first weapon Nigeria has to curb insecurity and it should not be taken with levity henceforth.
She said, “I rejoice with the Al-Kadriyar family, friends and Nigerians in general for the safe return of the Al-Kadriyar sisters. Prayer works and I want to thank all Nigerians, especially mothers for praying for the safe return of the Al-kadriyar sisters. Let us however not relent in our prayers.
“Let us intensify our prayers as it is prayers that would bring us out of this conundrum we find ourselves as a nation. I commend our security agencies for their efforts and urge them not to relent in combating insecurity in our Nation.”
The father of the abducted girls narrated how their kidnappers overpowered policemen who were mobilised to rescue his family on the day they were kidnapped.
Last week, residents of the Nahuta community in Katsina State’s Batsari Local Government Area fled their houses in fear of an attack by terrorists after it was widely reported that a group of terrorists had successfully dislodged a joint military base meant to protect the community.
