PDP Governors Send Warning Message to Wike, Others as Details of Zamfara Meeting Emerge
PDP governors have cautioned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other dissenting members against actions that could derail the party’s November 15 national convention.

PDP governors have cautioned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other dissenting members against actions that could derail the party’s November 15 national convention.
Rising from a meeting in Zamfara, the governors reaffirmed loyalty to the NEC’s resolutions and warned against “anti-party forces” seeking to sow division within the PDP.
Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have issued a stern warning to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and other dissenting members, cautioning against actions that could disrupt the party’s forthcoming national convention.

The warning followed a meeting held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Zamfara State Government House in Gusau, where the governors reaffirmed their loyalty to the resolutions of the National Executive Committee (NEC) reached in July. The NEC had endorsed November 15 as the date for the convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a communiqué, the governors urged members to resist “anti-party forces” working to undermine the exercise, stressing that the PDP remains Nigeria’s most credible democratic institution and the only viable alternative capable of steering the nation back on the path of good governance and development.

“The Forum reaffirms its full commitment to the resolutions of the 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of July 2025 regarding the November 15 National Convention. It urges members to resist all attempts to derail the convention by anti-party forces, and to see the PDP as the only democratic institution and viable alternative for restoring Nigeria along the path of good governance and national development,” the communiqué partly read.

The governors praised party loyalists for their resilience in the face of defections and internal disputes, insisting that such distractions cannot erode the PDP’s grassroots strength.
Their warning comes days after Wike openly criticised the PDP leadership over the South-South congress and threatened fresh crisis if his ally, Chief Dan Orbih, was not recognised as National Vice Chairman. He also rejected the zoning committee led by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, deepening tensions within the party.

The meeting was chaired by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
