PDP Issues Expulsion Certificates to Wike, Fayose and Others
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally issued expulsion certificates to Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose, and other members expelled.
- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally issued expulsion certificates to Nyesom Wike, Ayodele Fayose, and other members expelled at its November national convention, confirming their non-membership and clearing the way for possible registration with other parties.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially issued expulsion certificates to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, and other members expelled at the party’s controversial national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The certificates were handed over at a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday in Abuja, during which Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum formally transferred national leadership to Senator Kabiru Turaki. The action follows the November 16 convention, where Wike and others were ratified for expulsion over alleged anti-party activities.
Addressing journalists after the NWC meeting, Turaki explained that the certificates aim to help expelled members comply with Nigerian law, which prohibits dual political party membership.
“Now that they are no longer members of our party, and now that the National Convention, which is the highest decision-making organ of our party, has expelled them, we have decided to issue them certificates of expulsion. So that, when they go to register with other political parties in Nigeria, they will show these certificates as proof,” Turaki said.
The certificates have been dispatched to Wike, Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih.
Turaki added that the certification informs INEC and other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, DSS, and NSCDC, of the individuals’ new status. He also announced that public disclaimers will soon be issued, warning that anyone dealing with the expelled members does so at their own risk.

“We hope that members of the PDP in Nigeria and the diaspora will know that the party has once again gotten rid of the cankerworms that have been afflicting and creating problems for us in our activities,” Turaki said, adding that the party is now focused on rebuilding and preparing to offer “credible leadership” ahead of 2027.

The expulsion remains controversial, as it defied court orders that had suspended the Ibadan convention pending legal resolution of ongoing disputes over state congresses. Wike’s loyal faction, including Samuel Anyanwu and factional Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, rejected the Ibadan convention and held a parallel National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on November 18.
This faction also announced the expulsion of several opponents, including Governors Seyi Makinde, Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, former BOT Chair Adolphus Wabara, Turaki, and Chief Bode George, citing anti-party activities and violations of court orders.
The issuance of the certificates signals PDP’s intent to solidify its leadership structure and clearly delineate party membership amidst ongoing factional disputes.
