Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 67-year-old trafficker, Chukwuemeka Clement, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. He was allegedly caught with 100 wraps of cocaine that he had ingested.
VerseNews reports that Chukwuemeka Clement claimed that he ventured into the illicit drug trade to raise money to marry a new wife and start life afresh after spending 30 years in Brazil, Ethiopia, and Thailand.
He was arrested during the inward clearance of passengers on Ethiopian Airlines flight 951 from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, after a body scan revealed multiple pellets in his stomach.
Subsequently, he excreted a total of 100 wraps of cocaine weighing 2.195 kilograms in four excretions.
Additionally, on the same day at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano, NDLEA operatives intercepted a 45-year-old woman named Bilkisu Mohammed Bello as she was preparing to board a Saudia Airlines flight to Saudi Arabia.
