Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has challenged Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) or any nominee of the party to a live debate on national television.
VerseNews Nigeria reported that Datti in an interview with ‘Channels TV’ faults the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of All progressive Congress (APC) as the president-elect.
He argued that it is unconstitutional and will end the nation’s democracy if President Muhammed Buhari eventually swears in Tinubu on May 29.
Reacting to the comment, Soyinka said it is ‘unbecoming’ and a threat to the judiciary.

Following the controversies by the supporters LP, the Professor in a statement on Friday April 7 said he is ready for a one-on-one debate with Datti or any member from the party.
“on this very bone of contention – one-on-one – without the malodorous intervention of media trolls, and with the same interviewer as mediator.”
“To sustain that penalty is to give joy to others who turn the internet into a soak-away for their rancid emissions, yet feel that others should be silenced,” the statement reads.
