A hit-and-run driver who fatally struck two road sweepers on the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos has surrendered to the Lagos State Police Command.
VerseNews earlier reported that the incident occurred while the sweepers were performing their duties, and eyewitnesses reported that the driver was attempting to evade arrest when the collision happened.
The suspect, identified by the vehicle’s number plate (EPE 984 DV), turned himself in on Monday evening.
The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect would likely face manslaughter charges, with arraignment expected on Tuesday.
“He turned himself in yesterday (Monday) and he will be arraigned for manslaughter possibly today (Tuesday),” Hundeyin said.
