Afrobeats star Davido has paid tribute to his late son “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke” in an emotional post on X, calling him a “RIP LEGEND!!” — nearly two years after the toddler’s tragic drowning.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has paid tribute to his late son, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke,” describing him as a “RIP LEGEND!!” in a heartfelt post shared Tuesday on his X (formerly Twitter) page.

Ifeanyi, Davido’s son with now-wife Chioma Rowland, tragically died on October 31, 2022, after drowning in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island residence in Lagos—just days after celebrating his third birthday on October 20.

Following the incident, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that an autopsy determined the cause of death to be drowning. Eight domestic staff were initially taken in for questioning, with six released and two detained for further investigation.

Davido stepped away from social media after the tragedy but returned months later with the release of his fourth studio album, Timeless, in 2023. In an interview, he shared that he intentionally left out a tribute to Ifeanyi on the album to preserve its “positive energy.”

In October 2023, Davido marked the one-year anniversary of Ifeanyi’s passing with a single dove emoji on X.
