Suspected Thugs Strip Obaseki’s Cousin Naked, Drags Him to Oba’s Palace

• Don Pedro Obaseki, CEO of Hosamudia Farm and cousin of former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, was reportedly attacked and stripped naked by suspected thugs in Benin City before being brought to the Oba’s Palace amid festival celebrations.

Suspected thugs in Benin City, Edo State, on Sunday reportedly stripped naked Don Pedro Obaseki, Chief Executive Officer of Hosamudia Farm, in a shocking public attack.

A video circulating online shows Obaseki being assaulted at Uwa Primary School, where he had gone to play football.

The attackers allegedly took him to the Oba’s Palace and made him kneel at the palace gate, claiming he was an enemy, or “Oghion,” of the Oba.

Palace chiefs reportedly intervened, speaking to the thugs in the Bini language, noting that the Oba was on his way to the Holy Arousa Cathedral for a thanksgiving service marking the end of the Igue festival.

“One of the chiefs said, ‘Today is Thanksgiving Day at the Holy Arousa. We don’t want any trouble. If there is anybody that counts himself as an enemy of the Oba, allow him and see how he will end up,’” according to sources.

Despite initial resistance from the suspected thugs, the chiefs eventually escorted Obaseki inside the palace to prevent further escalation.

The incident has sparked widespread concern online, as many question the motives behind the attack and the apparent targeting of a prominent Edo business figure connected to the former state governor.
