The body of the 36 soldiers killed in an air combat in Niger State were on Friday laid to rest in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
It would be recalled that troops of the Nigerian Army were ambushed by armed bandits in Niger State on August 14, 2023, killing 14 soldiers while seven were injured.
VerseNews gathered that the ambush led to the deployment of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) evacuation aircraft.
Unfortunately, the mission turned awry as the aircraft crashed killing all passengers including two pilots, and two crew members onboard

Present at the burial were the Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba; Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa; and other service chiefs.
