Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused President Tinubu of deliberately creating divisions between him and Peter Obi to weaken opposition parties.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused President Tinubu of deliberately creating divisions between him and Peter Obi to weaken opposition parties.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of masterminding tensions between his camp and Peter Obi, claiming Tinubu’s government is focused on “wiping out opposition voices” instead of addressing national issues.
Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, stated: “Rather than wipe out the bandits ravaging Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Niger, and other states, Tinubu is more interested in wiping out opposition voices. His goal is clear: to force Nigeria into a one-party state.”

He further alleged that Tinubu is “wasting scarce public funds to stir up internal conflicts” within opposition parties, but insisted that “their divisive game has failed” as the coalition between Atiku and Obi remains united.

Atiku criticized Tinubu’s administration as “directionless, incompetent, and completely disconnected from the suffering of ordinary Nigerians,” accusing the president of abandoning governance to focus on a 2027 re-election campaign despite “having nothing to show for his 2023 mandate.”
The statement comes after Tinubu dismissed the opposition African Democratic Congress coalition as a “coalition of confusion.”
