President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded a fresh list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation, in what many observers see as a major round of political compensation and strategic appointments.

In two separate letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu requested the expedited confirmation of 15 career diplomats and 17 non-career nominees. The list features several high-profile political figures, including former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri, former Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, and former Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Also on the non-career list are former INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, ex-Ekiti First Lady Erelu Bisi Angela Adebayo, former Lagos Deputy Governor Otunba Femi Pedro, former Oyo First Lady Florence Ajimobi, ex-Lagos Commissioner Lola Akande, and former Senator Grace Bent.

The President’s nominations reflect a broad mix of political allies, party heavyweights, former officeholders, and technocrats. Among the 17 non-career nominees are individuals with long-standing ties to the administration or past political relevance.
