Tobi Amusan Blasts Journalist Over Consistent Doping Questions
Amusan was cleared of doping violations with the provisional suspension on her lifted ahead of the championship.
Nigerian track queen, Tobi Amusan lost her cool with a journalist who repeatedly demanded her to answer a question pertaining doping charges laid against her after the women’s 100-metre hurdle heats at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary on Tuesday.
Amusan was cleared of doping violations with the provisional suspension on her lifted ahead of the championship.
She put that behind her on Tuesday by hitting an impressive time of 12.49 seconds in Heat 5 ahead of her challengers.
Addressing the media in the mix zone after the race, Amusan thanked her dedicated fans for their unwavering support.
It was during the interview session that one of the journalists asked “Tobi, just on the point to the fans, I guess some of them are wondering what led to the charge. Would you be able to clarify the reasons behind that?”
Amusan, who visibly wasn’t comfortable with the question replied, “I’m talking about my fans, and you’re talking about charges. What charges?”
“Mr. Cathal, I am not going to answer your question. You’ve asked the same question five times now, and I am not answering it. Ridiculous!”
“You run fast, they want to talk about my shoes; you don’t run fast, they want to talk about what’s going on. Come on, cut me that slack,” she said.
