Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), North East Operation Hadin Kai, have rescued 74 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from a likely abduction by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Borno State.
The rescue operation was confirmed in a statement released by Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, on Thursday in Maiduguri.

According to the statement, the corps members — 36 males and 38 females — were stranded around 9:05 p.m. on Tuesday after their vehicles developed mechanical faults near a route notorious for insurgent attacks and attempted kidnappings.

Their presence was detected by a CCTV system monitored by troops, which picked up suspicious movement involving three buses at the location. A military patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“On arrival, troops discovered 74 NYSC members stranded after their vehicles developed mechanical faults. The troops immediately rescued them to prevent a likely abduction attempt by Boko Haram or ISWAP elements operating in the area,” the statement read.

The rescued corps members have since been moved to the Buratai military base, where they are being sheltered pending arrangements for their safe onward movement.
