- Grammy-winner Burna Boy has pledged to cover the funeral expenses of four victims—aged 8 to 21—who were killed during a mass shooting at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California.

Grammy Award–winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy has pledged to fully cover the funeral expenses of the four victims killed in a tragic mass shooting at a children’s birthday party in Stockton, California.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Saturday, November 29, at Monkey Space, a banquet hall in San Joaquin County, where unknown attackers opened fire during a celebration.
Authorities confirmed that four people — aged 8, 13, 14, and 21 — lost their lives, while 11 others were injured. Police believe the attack was targeted, though no arrests have been made yet.
Speaking to The Stockton Record, Burna Boy said he was deeply shaken when he learned of the tragedy while listening to The Breakfast Club radio show.
“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke. No family should ever face this kind of pain alone.”
Moved by the news, Burna Boy reached out to U.S. music executive Wack 100, who connected him to Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee. This allowed the singer to directly contact families affected by the disaster.

A Young Life Cut Short
Among the victims was 14-year-old Amari Peterson, described as a vibrant teen with talent in football and basketball.
According to a GoFundMe page created for his family, Amari was preparing for college and known for his positive energy.
Touched by his story — and the scale of the tragedy — Burna Boy offered to pay the full funeral costs for all four victims, easing the financial burden on their grieving families.

Local Officials Praise the Gesture
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee expressed deep appreciation for Burna Boy’s act of kindness, applauding him for supporting families he had never met.
Lee noted that in moments of national tragedy, unexpected support sends a strong message of unity and shared humanity.
A Softer Side of the Superstar
The humanitarian move comes shortly after a viral moment in Colorado where Burna Boy paused a performance to call out audience members who appeared to be asleep, sparking mixed reactions online.
This latest gesture, however, has highlighted the artiste’s compassionate side and his willingness to stand with families experiencing unimaginable loss.
