The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn access to the recently released results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates following the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, WAEC disclosed that the problem arose after it introduced a paper serialization innovation in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics to curb examination malpractice.
The council explained that while the system was designed in line with global best practices, post-result release checks revealed “some technical bugs” affecting the results.
