  • In a candid interview, rap icon Olamide says wealth will never stop him from enjoying his favourite comfort food—Garri Ijebu—while addressing industry pressures, online rudeness and his commitment to uplifting young artistes.

Popular Nigerian rapper and YBNL boss, Olamide, has revealed that despite his success and global recognition, one thing he can never give up is drinking Garri Ijebu.

Speaking on the audio-visual podcast Ada’s Room, Olamide said his deep love for Garri Ijebu remains unchanged, no matter how wealthy he becomes. He noted that he prefers it with cold water and groundnuts, describing it as one of his lifelong favourites.

The interview follows Olamide’s electrifying performance at the 12,500-capacity OVO Arena in London, where he shared the stage with Seyi Vibez, Asake and other major stars—an event that left fans praising his humility and consistency.

During the conversation, the “Billionaire Club” hitmaker also addressed online toxicity, joking that if it were possible, he wishes people could “request a hot slap” because of how rude many social media users can be.

He further dismissed claims that he is shy, explaining that he often stays in the background to give rising artistes room to shine in an industry he described as “highly competitive.”

On his creative vision, Olamide said his dream is to make music that remains timeless—songs he can listen to ten years from now and still love as much as his fans do today.

He isn’t alone in his love for Garri Ijebu. Wizkid has previously declared it one of his favourite foods as well—proof that even billion-naira superstars still hold on to simple pleasures.
