A tragic incident has rocked Jibia town in Katsina State, where a newlywed groom, Abubakar Abdulkarim, popularly known as Dan Gaske, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife just three days after their wedding.
The couple had tied the knot on Thursday, November 18, 2025, but their marital bliss reportedly ended on Sunday afternoon when the wife allegedly attacked the groom with a knife while he was asleep, inflicting a fatal neck wound.
A relative of the deceased, Aminu Danladi, said he and other family members spent the morning of the fateful day with the groom, making plans for a family visit scheduled for later. “He returned home to prepare for the engagement before news broke that he had been found dead in cold blood in his house,” Danladi recounted.
Contrary to circulating rumours, the marriage was not forced, and the couple had maintained good relations prior to their wedding. Sources revealed that the wife, Zainab Muhammad, is in her 20s, previously married and divorced, and was introduced to the groom by his nephew.

Reports indicate the killing likely occurred between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. After the incident, the wife reportedly went to a neighbour’s house asking for food, which raised suspicion. Neighbours followed her back home and discovered the groom’s lifeless body, immediately alerting security operatives.
