The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, is set to launch Project Breathe Clean Air Abuja on Saturday, November 15, 2025, a landmark initiative promoting the use of clean cooking gas (LPG) as a safer and healthier alternative to firewood and charcoal.
The launch, themed “Renewing Hope, One Household at a Time,” will be held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, and will bring together environmental and health experts, students, development partners, policymakers, and other key stakeholders.

The initiative aims to reduce health risks from household air pollution, protect the environment, and contribute to sustainable living across the capital city.

Speaking ahead of the event, FCTA Mandate Secretary Dr. Dolapo Fasawe emphasized that the project is strategically designed to advance public health and environmental sustainability. She also thanked Minister Wike and IHS Nigeria for their support and commitment to the initiative.
As part of the six-month program, 5,000 gas cylinders will be distributed across the six area councils of the FCT, encouraging households to transition from firewood and charcoal to clean cooking gas.
