- A heated confrontation erupted between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and a military officer in Abuja’s Gaduwa District over a disputed parcel of land allegedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
Drama unfolded in Abuja on Tuesday as Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), engaged in a fiery confrontation with a yet-to-be-identified military officer over an alleged case of land grabbing at the Gaduwa District of the nation’s capital.
A video of the incident, sighted by BusinessDay, captured a visibly agitated Wike accusing the officer of unlawfully taking possession of a parcel of land purportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff.
“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” Wike was heard saying angrily in the clip.
The officer, dressed in full military uniform, immediately fired back, insisting the land in question was acquired legally.

“I am an officer with integrity. Everything was acquired legally,” he retorted.
An evidently irritated Wike then ordered him to keep quiet, but the officer refused, declaring, “I will not shut up,” which further escalated the standoff.

The situation took another dramatic turn when Wike lashed out, saying, “You are a very big fool. As at the time I graduated, you were still in primary school.”
Despite the minister’s remarks, the officer stood his ground, claiming he was merely acting on official directives to secure the disputed property.
Wike, however, warned him sternly against further activity at the site, saying:
“You will see if you will not leave here. Go and develop there and let me see.”

The video has since sparked widespread debate online, with Nigerians reacting sharply to the confrontation between the FCT Minister and the military personnel — reigniting conversations around land ownership disputes and power tussles in the capital city.
