A video showing the massive convoy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arriving in Lagos has sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Recall that before arriving in Lagos, Tinubu had departed Abuja for Borno and Bauchi States. The video, which has since gone viral, shows a long line of vehicles moving along a cordoned-off road as bystanders stopped to record the scene.

The footage quickly generated mixed reactions from Nigerians online.

Reacting to the video, social media user Christopher Iheme described the convoy as the President’s “trademark” and accused him of being disconnected from the realities Nigerians are currently facing.

He alleged that many citizens are struggling to afford basic food items such as rice for the festive season, let alone chickens for their families, while accusing the President of spending the country’s commonwealth recklessly.

Another commenter, @Mavel_Tee, alleged that taxes paid by Nigerians are being used to maintain the large convoy.

However, a different perspective was offered by social media user @Osazenoo, who countered claims that all the vehicles belonged to President Tinubu. According to him, the convoy also includes vehicles belonging to the state governor, politicians and their security details, adding that the President’s personal convoy is less than 10 cars.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Bauchi State, President Tinubu approved the renaming of the Federal University of Sciences, Azare, after renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, in recognition of his contributions to faith, education and leadership.

Tinubu announced the decision on Saturday during a condolence visit to Bauchi, where he paid tribute to the late cleric, prayed for the repose of his soul and commiserated with his family.

The President arrived at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi, where he was received by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, ministers and other senior government officials.

In a related development, Tinubu has urged Lagosians and revellers to celebrate the forthcoming Eyo Festival peacefully, calling on them to shun violence, excessive drinking and any behaviour capable of endangering lives.

He made the appeal while receiving organisers of the Eyo Festival at his Lagos residence, ahead of the cultural event scheduled for December 27.

He further emphasised unity among Nigerians, describing the festival as a symbol of shared identity beyond ethnic or social divisions.

“Everybody is a member of this great family,” the President added.

Tinubu also expressed joy at returning home for the cultural celebration, praying that the coming Christmas would be a joyful season for all Nigerians.
