Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Muhammed Gumel, stated that only 50 individuals were allowed access to the court handling petitions related to the Kano Governorship Election Tribunal.
According to reports obtained from Daily Trust, there were incidents where certain journalists were denied entry into the court premises.
Commissioner of Police Gumel clarified that it was the tribunal itself that imposed restrictions on the number of people permitted to enter the court.
VerseNews reports that this statement was made during an interview with Daily Trust at the command headquarters in Kano on Wednesday.
He said, “Since yesterday, we called the tribunal Secretary to hear arrangements for the sitting, where they informed us that only 50 people would be allowed in.
“The number includes the judges, lawyers of the two parties and their members, journalists and the media. So it is not the police that limited the number.”
