BREAKING: FG Declares Wednesday As Public Holiday
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government in Abuja.
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, September 27, as a public holiday to commemorate the Eil-ul-Maulid celebration, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
VerseNews reports that the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government in Abuja.
In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Minister extended congratulations to Muslim faithful, both at home and in the diaspora, for observing this year’s occasion.
He encouraged Nigerians to embrace the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The Minister also urged the youth to adopt a strong work ethic and promote peaceful coexistence among citizens, regardless of their faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity.
The statement reads; “His admonition to Nigerians is to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified,” the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Oluwatoyin Akinlade said in a statement.
“The Honorable Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has urged Nigerians, especially our youths, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class, and ethnicity, and join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable Nation that all citizens will be proud of. The Minister wishes all Muslim Faithfuls a joyful celebration.”
