In a surprising move, popular British music channel MTV Base has officially banned all music associated with Marlian Music, the record label owned by Nigerian musician Naira Marley.

VerseNews reports that this decision comes in the wake of the mysterious death of Nigerian singer Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records.

Mohbad’s sudden demise, which occurred on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, has raised questions and controversy, with accusations pointing towards Naira Marley’s involvement.

The singer’s passing has shaken the music industry and prompted several national radio stations to enforce a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban on Marlian music.

MTV Base, a prominent music outlet, has now joined this growing list of bans.

The announcement was made by MTV music channel staff member and popular TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale, known as DadaBoy Ehiz.
