President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to rescue the remaining female students of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were recently abducted by terrorists.

VerseNews had earlier reported that gunmen suspected to be terrorists in the early hours of Friday kidnapped several students from the school.

The state’s Police Command confirmed the invasion, stating that some of the kidnapped students have not yet been rescued, and the total number has yet to be ascertained.

While the Nigerian Army announced the rescue of six students, the exact number of remaining students in the terrorists’ captivity is still unknown. Security personnel have been deployed to work on their rescue.

“We don’t have an actual number yet. They have only rescued six of them,” said the state police command spokesman when contacted to confirm the incident.

He further stated, “We can’t say how many remain because we don’t know the number that was abducted. All hands are on deck to ensure that the others are rescued, Insha Allah.”

“We don’t know the actual number, but our personnel have been there since yesterday (Saturday), working on the rescue operation. Insha Allah, we will rescue all of them,” the police spokesperson added.

However, VerseNews reports that Tinubu in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale ordered security agencies to rescue the innocent students.

Condemning the reprehensible act of abduction, the President says there is no moral justification for such a heinous act against innocent victims whose only “offense” was their pursuit of quality education.

President Tinubu affirms that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.

Furthermore, the President pledges that the Federal Government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists.
