The influx of defectors occurred amidst a crisis within the APC in Kano State, with the suspension of the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, announced by the Ganduje ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government. This move followed bribery charges brought against Ganduje by the NNPP-led state government.

Deputy Governor Gwarzo emphasized the importance of grassroots leadership, directing caretaker chairmen of the 44 local government areas in the state to reside within their councils. He warned against absentee leadership and announced plans for surprise visits to assess their commitment to duties.

Additionally, Gwarzo urged local government leaders to prioritize impactful projects in sectors like healthcare, education, and water supply, reaffirming Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s dedication to implementing programs beneficial to all residents of Kano State.
