The United States has offered a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear programme, including its facilities, equipment and associated personnel.

US Central Command announced the offer in a statement posted on X on Friday, identifying the State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme as the agency administering it.

The announcement comes despite President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions that US military strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Rewards for Justice “is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community,” Central Command said.

Reward offer follows Trump’s destruction claims

The announcement has renewed attention to the condition of Iran’s nuclear programme following military operations by the United States and Israel.

In June 2025, the two countries launched strikes targeting facilities linked to Iran’s nuclear activities.

Following the operation, Trump described the sites as having been “completely and totally obliterated.”

Subsequent assessments, however, indicated that the strikes had degraded the programme rather than eliminated it entirely.

The latest reward offer seeks information about a broad range of nuclear-related activities, extending beyond physical facilities to equipment and personnel, including members of the scientific community.

Uranium enrichment remains a concern

Iran’s nuclear activities have been the subject of long-running international scrutiny, particularly over the level of uranium enrichment and the potential for material to be used in weapons.

In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran was enriching uranium to 60 per cent purity.

That level is below the roughly 90 per cent generally associated with weapons-grade uranium, but it heightened concerns about how quickly Tehran could further enrich its stockpile.

Wider conflict followed further strikes

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a larger military campaign against Iran, saying the operation was intended to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

The campaign’s opening phase resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s retaliation subsequently widened the conflict, disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy supplies.

Central Command’s statement did not specify particular facilities or individuals being sought under the reward offer. It said information concerning Iran’s nuclear facilities, equipment and associated personnel could qualify for consideration.
