A Lagos-based landlord is reportedly on the run after allegedly threatening to murder a 300-level University of Lagos (UNILAG) student and boasting he could “kill the case” with “N500,000.”

The incident occurred in the Igando area of Lagos State and gained public attention after the student posted a video on TikTok under the username @auraa_ural.

In the now-viral clip, the unnamed man was seen making chilling statements:

“I will kill you. I am going to use N500,000 to cover up everything. You are going to die. You are a rat; N500,000 will settle everything.”

Another man was seen restraining the landlord from physically attacking the student, who stated in the video that she refused his sexual advances.

The student reported the incident to officers from the Igando Police Division.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the case:

“She reported the incident at the station, but the landlord fled. We are searching for him and will take appropriate action once he is located.”

The student explained that the socket in her apartment was faulty from the time she moved in, but the landlord refused to repair it and instead told her to charge her devices in his place.

She alleged that during such visits, he engaged her in inappropriate conversations.

“At times, he texts me in the night and comes to knock on my door, asking me to come out to chill with him. After a while, he stopped answering my greetings and started beating me.”

She added that on Sunday, he escalated his actions by attempting to beat her with a plank before she was rescued by a neighbour.

Police investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
