The Senator representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Godiya Akwashiki, has died at the age of 52 after a prolonged illness.

A family source confirmed the death on Thursday in Nassarawa Eggon, revealing that the lawmaker passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at a hospital in India.

Describing his death as a major loss to the state, the source said Akwashiki’s leadership style and commitment to the development of Nasarawa North left a lasting impact on the constituency.
