In Angwan Ka’are, a neighborhood in Keffi Local Government Area, four students from the Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, were reportedly kidnapped last night by armed bandits.
VerseNews reports that Rahila Hanya, who is in the SLT 100 Level, Josephine Gershon, who is in the Computer Science 100 Level, Rosemary Samuel, who is in the Business Administration 100 Level, and Goodness Samuel, who is in the department of Geography 100 Level are among the students who allegedly were abducted outside the university campus at 10:30 pm on Monday.
When contacted, Abraham Ekpo, the university’s head of information and protocol, said the information about the incident had reached the university administration.
He claimed that in order to ensure the release of the students, the university’s internal security was collaborating with other security organizations.
The Nasarawa state police command’s public relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the abduction on Tuesday. He said the command learned of the students’ kidnapping at around 12:55am after receiving a distress call about armed intruders breaking into a house in angwan ka’are, Keffi.
”The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly when a distress call was received and commenced combing the area and are still on the trail of the abductors” DSP Nansel declared.
Meanwhile the PPRO said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescuing the victims unhurt.
It would be recalled that in recent times there has been increase in crime rate in Keffi Local Government Area, including cases of male private manhood disappearance, rape, kidnapping among other crimes within the university community especially in Angwan Lambu , High court and some part of LGA.
In the meantime, the PPRO reported that the police commissioner had ordered a manhunt for the criminals in an effort to save the victims’ lives.
Nasarawa State particularly Keffi LGA has become a beehive of criminal activities.
This includes cases of male private manhood disappearance, rape, and kidnapping among other crimes within the university community, particularly in Angwan Lambu, the High Court, and some parts of the LGA.
